Castle Eugene Portwood, 77, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Portwood, son of Castle and Elsie Bernice (Ford) Portwood, Sr., was born December 28, 1934, in Portageville, Missouri. He had worked for the U. S. Forest Service and was an owner/operator of a sawmill. Mr. Portwood enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. On February 26, 1954, he was married to DaWanda Jean (Wyatt) at New Madrid, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 20, 1985.

Also surviving are three sons: Larry Portwood and his wife, Debbie, of Morehouse, Missouri, Tony Portwood and his wife, Brenda, and Dennis Portwood and his wife, Janet, both of Doniphan, Missouri; two daughters, Beverly Siegler and her husband, David, of Doniphan, Missouri, and Pamela Ehrenberg and her husband, David, of Blue Springs, Missouri; one step-son, James Quick and his fiancée, Amanda, of Doniphan, Missouri; one sister, Bonnie Bivins of Buffalo, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren Darla Wilson, Chris Portwood, James Portwood, Dennis Jones, Ashley Hudson, Dennis Portwood, Miranda Ehrenberg, Roger Ehrenberg, Blake Ehrenberg, Tony Portwood, Adam Portwood, Bryan Portwood & Josh Portwood; three step-grandsons Timmy Siegler and David Bishop and David Ray (Bucky)Ehrenberg and thirteen great-grandchildren, Summer McClellan, Leslie Portwood, Cameron Wilson, Sydnee Jones, Kyle Jones, Hunter Hudson, Kyleigh Portwood, Cody Portwood, Tony Portwood Jr., Nakota Portwood, Kaitlynn Portwood, Whitney Portwood, Morgan Portwood and one step-great-grandson Eric Siegler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Castle and Elsie Portwood, one son, Brian Scott Portwood, two sisters, Bernice Portwood and Elsie Mansfield; three brothers Jack Portwood, John Portwood and Phillip Portwood, one grandchild, Steven Portwood and two great-grandchildren Tomie Portwood & McKenzie Brooke Jones.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, May 18, 2012, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will start Saturday morning, May 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Larry Portwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Bennett Cemetery.
