Obituary of Terry Joe Sullivan

Terry Joe Sullivan, 59, long-time resident of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Friday, September 11, 2015, at his home in rural Ripley County, Missouri. Mr. Sullivan, son of James E. and Juanita M. (Yates) Sullivan, was born July 22, 1956, in Port Huron, Michigan. Terry graduated high school from St. Louis Christian Academy in 1974. He then completed an associate’s degree from Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and began employment with the Missouri Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole, a vocation he enjoyed very much. After retirement, Mr. Sullivan became a substitute teacher in Doniphan and the surrounding area, encompassing all of Ripley County, Missouri, and Randolph County, Arkansas. He adored working with students of the various schools. Terry loved hunting, fishing, visiting with friends across the globe and he especially enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He also liked being on his farm, particularly taking care of his heifers, assisted by his farm buddies, dogs Sheldon and Beulah. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Doniphan. On September 7, 1974, he was married to the love of his life, Catherine Hardin, in Maryland Heights, Missouri, and she survives. Also surviving are four children: Damian J. (Amber) Sullivan of St. Peters, Missouri, Chelsea D. (Charles) LaRocca of Palmetto, Florida, Ashley (Donny) Cantreras of Salem, Oregon, and Brittney Contreras of Long Beach, California; 3 brothers, Douglas Sullivan, Walter (Linda) Sullivan and Larry (Jenny) Sullivan; and 3 grandchildren, Devon, Kayla and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis Sullivan, one sister, Joan Sullivan and his step-father, Dee Halcomb. A visitation for Mr. Sullivan will take place at noon Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Following the service, friends and loved ones are invited to join the the family at Bellview Cemetery and then travel to Logan Creek Church for a fellowship.
